Welcome to Tivvyfest's Newspage. If you want to know what's happening in Tiverton now and what's planned for Tivvyfest 2012 just scroll down for all the latest news. But first, this... Looking back on 2011: We had another interesting and varied programme of events for 2011 and for the first time we decided to raise funds for a charity. Hospiscare were raising funds to open the Daycare facility at Post Hill, and we raised £800.00 for them. TIVVYfest's ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING took place on Tuesday, 25th October at 7.30pm at the Old Heathcoat School Community Centre (OHSCC). We are always keen to encourage new people with new ideas to come along and share their ideas and enthusiasm with us. Do contact us if you would like to help in some way. Phone: 01884-259042 Mobile: 0777 973 2665 e-mail: janepsnow@tiscali.co.uk. Tivvyfest is intended to draw the community together and show what a wealth of talents and opportunities are here, as well as to bring a range of new opportunities to local people. We are keen to support local businesses, the Pannier Market, and the many individuals, clubs and societies which make a difference to the quality of life in the area. Whilst the Festival itself runs throughout May, much is happening throughout the year and we hope to be able to help publicise some of these on our News page in future. For 2012 we are looking at various innovations which we hope will increase participation in and awareness of Tivvyfest to a wider range of people. If you are interested in taking part in artistic/musical/dramatic or other events, do get in contact - we'd love to hear from you. We are also in need of people to volunteer in other ways - many of which only require occasional bursts of activity! ‘A-LIGHT FOR TIVERTON’ took place on Friday 2nd December at 6pm when the town centre was lit up by a procession of lanterns accompanied by samba musicians. This community event replaced the Carnival and members of Tiverton’s Schools, Community Groups and families took part. This was a fantastic success, with large numbers of people of all ages carrying lanterns. Tiverton High School pupils had created large lanterns representing various sporting activities including canoeing and athletics to celebrate the impending Olympics in Britain for 2012.
